As I was skimming articles this morning that covered millennials and their perceptions of the workplace, it became apparent to me that we can all learn from these savvy go getters! Many workplace professionals have found themselves in roles that are unfulfilling, lack challenge and are ultimately unprogressive (i.e., they suck the life out of them). Is this you? If so, why have you stayed in those roles? Why have you decided to forgo the development of your career?
Self-imposed limitations have halted the potential of many workplace professionals. These limitations are often a result of doubts, fears and inaccurate perceptions and unknowingly are the driving force behind career stagnation. So, my question to you is simple: “What would a millennial do?”
Millennials:
1) Seize all opportunities to find fulfillment and balance in their careers.
2) Are vocal about their goals and ask for what they want.
3) Challenge themselves and demand more out of their careers.
4) Are genuinely curious and do not solely rely on their perceptions, instead they ask questions.
5) Collaborate efforts, join forces etc. They understand that team work makes the dream work.
As you can see, there is a great deal that can be gained from the millennial mindset. By no means am I suggesting that millennials have set the standards. I’m simply stating that we can all learn from these bright, ambitious and limitation slashing individuals. When all else fails, ask yourself “What would a millennial do?
